Last summer, singer Lee Jung Hyun led promotions with her mini-album and title track Vogue It Girl. Now over half a year later, it’s been revealed that she’ll be making a comeback this month with her 7th album.

If you recall, Lee also recently appeared on the late night talk show Asia Uncut and was even compared to world famous American artist Lady Gaga.

Last time around, this singer gained quite a lot of attention for her unique fashion sense and music, so many eyes are on this upcoming comeback. It’s been revealed that some of Korea’s top composers are currently working on the album.

The album will have a unique style and have a fun new dance. But she’ll also be changing things up a bit as she’ll also feature a ballad track. The main concept will be something different but bold as ideas are being brainstormed.
This was so unexpected, right?! I hope the new track wont be a cute image but a strong one like Crazy or something similar to Bakkwo! I wonder what the concept will be... ? So excited right now!

When I heard that she would be releasing a 7th album, I thought I had to wait like til August or September.

That sums up my feelings perfectly XD That was a sudden announcement! The album must be in its final stages then. Yay!!!!:clap:

She'll be competing with Hyori and Son Dam Bi, both set to make come backs in March/April. Finally something good in Kpop again! It's been so boring for several months now! I have to start uploading stuff to JKSKY again, so that I'll have enough coins to get all those tp-files XD

I wonder if the ballad they're talking about is the one from Iris OST? Hoping for a brand new one though ^_^

Im positive it will be a new ballad song.

I hope this ballad is just on the album and not promoted though because ballads aren't her strong point even though she makes great ones like the IRIS track.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2010 is looking great, my two most favourite artists ever are having massive comebacks :D

I agree with you -00001
Im thinking she will promote the dance song but will also sing a ballad for her comeback perfs.
Singer Lee JungHyun will have her comeback with her 7th album this March.

Known for her unique styles and choreography during her previous minialbum promotions, it has been revealed that the works for her upcoming 7th album are at its finishing stage.

According to her agency, they have involved the best composers and fashion teams in Korea for her 7th album.

The album will be like the previous minialbum, with a variety of great dance music as well as ballads included. And Lee JungHyun will be meeting fans with fashion and props unique to Lee JungHyun’s style and apt for her title song concept.

Meanwhile, recently being featured on Chinese representative Hollywood star talk show ‘Asia UnCut’, Lee JungHyun receives the compliment from game company EA’s representative Jon Niermann who said, “Even though I’ve seen many famous stars’ performances, this star does not shy from Lady Gaga in terms of her capabilities and stage manners.”
Sadly, I dont think she will ever go back to just techno no matter how many of her fans want her too. I think this could be her last album + chinese album until she debut as a movie director. I hope Im wrong...

These are the same articles from MK news, but different translations ^^
"Singer Lee Jung Hyun is setting up her last line to make her 7th album comeback on March.

Lee, whom had a comeback last year with a flashing concept is ready to impress many with the help of world's best choreographer, photographer, director and is currently adding a finishing touch to the upcomings.

According to her label, Lee Jung Hyun's 7th album consists of Korea's best composers and style team. This pack comes together with usually-brilliant dance musics as expected and newly-added heartbreaking ballad tracks that have been missed out in the past. They are strongly determined to greet the awaiting fans with the very concept and props for the title track, including many ideas that would give off Lee Jung Hyun's own feel.

Also, China's rising TV show featuring Hollywood stars, "Asia Uncut" had Lee Jung Hyun starred as the guest. Lee had it's moderator, also known as the world's online gaming companies EA CEO, Jon Niermann have his mouthed heavy with compliments, "I've seen met many celebrities myself, but she definitely deserves to be acknowledged as the world's best star. She is absolutely talented and is full of great stage performance, etc, which can be compared to Lady Gaga."
Thanks for adding it to the front page! ^^

Any further news on the new album? There's like only 11 days left of March and I find it weird Ava's new album doesn't have a release date yet :Undecided: I've looked around myself, but have been unable to find anything.

I think she will push it back to April ~~ Though Im not sure. Maybe the last week of March. There might be some sort of news on her fanclub. But its all in Korean! Should I ask in English? Im a member there...

I'm sure all the Kpop blogs would pick it up if there were any news. I also find it weird how there's no info at all since it's supposed to be happening this month. It could just be a rumour... or they changed their minds. Remember the 6th album drama? That was pushed back 6th months. Hopefully not the same case here xD

I dont think its a rumor. If it was, her management would've clear it up like 2 weeks ago. Plus they even listed the news on their site plus the Ava entertainment site. They probably still working on it. I wouldnt want them to rush it though. Hope it's better than her last two albums. Thank god for Avaholic!

Comeback will be in mid-April.

Got this news from her fanclub. Not sure if its 100% true but im not surprised. But SERIOUSLY-- the middle of April? That's too long for me! If they set it to May, it would be 1 year of us waiting for this new album! So many solo comebacks in April-- Hyori, Rain, Uhm Jung Hwa, and I think Son Dambi.
• -00001-00001
Fantastic Member
Middle of April will be one month from now. I personally don't mind. I know in Korea the artists are expected to come up with something new all the time but I think a year is a reasonable amount of time to wait. I guess I'm just used to the Western way where promotions for an album usually last a year with like 5 singles and music videos to go along with it. In Korea they only promote their album for like 2 or 3 months with a song or two then go, which seems so quick, so I guess that's why everyone is expecting something new so soon.

Can't wait for Uhm Jung Hwa's comeback as well. I'm just hoping she does better than DISCO, that was so disappointing. I'm sort of interested in Dambi as well. Hyori and Rain.. eh. Looks like the solo acts are coming back in full force! I am a bit tired of all these monotonous groups.
• GX3394GX3394
Administrator
Hmm I like the way the Western promote their music. It just seems longer. Oh wait! Thats because they produce FULL albums and promote more than 2 songs! Koreans are getting cheap on us for making mini albums and repackaged albums.

Also I really hate when a singer promote one song for like 2 months and wait for 1-2 months after that to promote another song, and they it a "comeback". A comeback should be more like a year.

Not really a fan of the other singers. And I dont get the hype for Hyori's comeback just because her last promotion was a success. Dark Angel, anyone? >

SNSD made a comeback after one week's absence  To me, the definition of a "comeback" is when people have been away from the music scene (as in, hardly promoting/performing anything at all) for years. Like the 2+ years between Fantastic Girl and Avaholic.

I get the feeling Ava will be overshadowed by all the big solo comebacks in April and May. I hope the new album will be something mindblowing, so she'll get tons of attention. She's definitely going to have to work hard to take people's attention away from Dambi, Hyori, Uhm Jung Hwa and Rain. Well, Ava will have my full attention at least!

I have the same feeling too ~~ :(
I hope the new album will be something mindblowing, so she'll get tons of attention. .
If its a really catchy song and her concept is totally different, then maybe she will. But then again, Crazy was different but it wasnt much of a hit. Vogue Girl did better but she kinda blended in with everyone else.

Am I crazy or Ava started the whole black-leather concept that year in Korea? I know that Brown Eyed Girls followed her concept but did better. Im just bringing this up because everyone keep saying it was either BEG or SNSD, when we all know it was Ava when she did Crazy! ..unless someone started before her that year that I dont know of. :P
• ScuzScuz
Fantastic Member
Hmmmm, I think you're right. At least, I can't think of anyone who had the black leather concept that year before Ava. Early 2009 was still very retro/80s in K-pop, and that changed around the time Ava had her comeback. I think the reason BEG did better was simply because they were more, umm, "steamy" XD And had a dance move that caught on. That seems to be what's hip right now: Have a catchy dance move and you'll be a success.

I don't know why Ava doesn't get much attention! Crazy was a good enough song to become a hit. If Hyori did that song it would be a surfire chart-topper. Haha they just don't understand the complexity of our Ava :D See how all the girl groups are going 'dark and sexy' now? When Ava does it no one cares but now it's like the trending thing with all the groups.

Dance and image is big in Korea, if not more important than singing! Ava is really only remembered for her pinky mic and werid costumes. I also find it sad that Wa only reminds people of Jo Kwon from 2AM's dance on some game show.

I hope this time she pulls it off and becomes a hit again. She hasn't really had huge success since her first album! If she doesn't then oh well... she still has her loyal fans like us!

And that's what matter!

I also don't understand the Korean concept of comeback and how they release new songs and albums all the time (One album per year is more than enough for me).
I think this makes the album shallow of emotions and creativity.
But they still gain media's atention.

its all about the money!!! they make more money if they release physical singles/digital singles and mini albums and promote 1 or 2 songs.. and then 2-3 months later they put out another single or mini and promote another song. it puts out more anticipation for new releases and brings in more dough than releasing a full album for just one year.
• ScuzScuz
Fantastic Member
Yes, considering how low the CD sales are in South Korea right now, they'll have to release albums/singles/mini-albums/repacks every so often to make "enough sales". The result should basically be that they make quite a lot of money (perhaps as much, or more, than what an album would make 10 years ago), but also that the singers become immensely over-worked. And they don't even have tours! Just imagine the stress if they had to tour the country as well.

Not a healthy business.

On the day when Lee Hyori unleashed her alien concept MV for her title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the techno queen of Korea, Lee Jung Hyun announced on the 12th that she will be having her own comeback in April too!

The reason why many singers are choosing April or May to release their albums is because they want to avoid June as all eyes in Korea will be mainly focused on watching their national team in the Fifa World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

Lee Jung Hyun who has always thrown in a unique concept for her albums, will be releasing her 7th album at the end of April. It is said that her album will be comprised mainly of synthpop tracks and she will once again show her fans another radical transformation for her stage performances.

Comparisons are bound to be thrown up by the media by pitting Lee Hyori against Lee Jung Hyun, with the former almost taking a leaf out of the latter’s book for her latest music video concept.

Lee Jung Hyun who has been based mainly in China all this while, will be filming the Chinese drama, Confucius later this year.

Could someone identify synthpop for me, please? I suck when it comes to defining music-genres >.<

Haha I was about to post the news from allkpop!

Im not exactly sure what synthpop is but i looked it up anyways. I thought it could be something like electronic pop or something that sounds like Vogue Girl..

Anyways here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthpop
my prediction is that her new album will sound something like from the 80s..?

and a list of synthpop artists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_synthpop_artists
on the list i think i only know "the killers" aural vampire is on the list too. isnt that scuz's favorite band?

I'm guessing it'll be in the vein of Wonder Girls' Tell Me and Son Dam Bi's Saturday Night then? And vogue Girl, of course. Although, if that's what's classified as synthpop, I wouldn't mind Ava's new sound would be more like Animotion's (especially Obsession and I Engineer - I love those songs XD ).

I've seen Aural Vampire being listed as a synthpop/industrial/rock/techno-band, so you might be able to tell why I'm having a hard time telling the difference between (most) genres XD

Anyway, it seems I like synthpop, so chances are I'll be liking Ava's new album very much  How, all we need is an official release date, so that we really have something to look forward too.

This is awesome! The synthpop direction sounds great judging by what I know of that genre, using lots of synths! I really can't wait now!

Hyori's new song is just generic and boring though it reminds me a little bit of Crazy. I'm sure Ava will be a stand out!
• GX3394GX3394

It's hard to distinguish WG's Tell Me as synthpop.. but SDB's Saturday Night, yes, because it sounds totally 80's. lol It would be interesting if she mixes synthpop with techno. It might sound something like Aural Vampire. But if she sticks with the normal synthpop, it might sound like Saturday Night...even tho Im not really a fan of that song.. I just hope her concept wont be disco >
I saw her mv and I thought it was better than Crazy mv. But IMO it looks very District 9 meets Lady Gaga~~ There were a few songs I like but I felt the album was too long.. it felt long. I hope Ava's album wont be like that. And you cant really compare Ava to Hyori music.. Hyori is doing hip hop and Ava is doing synthpop/pop/watevr.. lol
Crazy did have a hip hop/rock influence. The music for Chitty and Crazy are a bit similar. I don't really like Chitty's MV. I thought Crazy was much more glossier. Chitty's was all over the place just like the song itself.. I thought it was going to be good from the teaer but I was let down. It sounded like alot of noise and parts chopped up and put together.

If you want a recent kpop synthpop track, T-ara's Like the Beginning is a great example. Alot of Uhm Jung Hwa's classic songs were a little synthpop fused with techno.

Wow they're actually the same song... It sounds like her people went shopping for tracks for her to sing. This is making me even less interested in her new album!

Ava's all about being different and making everything her own... so I doubt she would do this. Well I hope not!

Its not even the first time she had done this ... ><
Its funny cuz shes been saying foreign composers are helping her to write new music. All they did was translate it into Korean or make up new lyrics. haha

I dont think Ava ever covered a song or plagiarized in her albums..not that I know of...

The only thing I can think of is the incident with Love Me and that song by Rainie Yang (or whatever her name is). They had a similar melody in the chorus, but I don't think it was plagiarized by either singers' companies (coincidence or maybe the same person composed the songs). Other than that, I can't think of any other songs. Tons of people have copied Ava though XD

People claim Sammi copied Ava but we all know that its the other way round xD

Hyori had a bit of trouble with her song Get Ya! sounding like Britney's Do Something. It was different but essentially the same so I think that was plagiarised. I just think the composer of these two tracks gave them to two people to use.

I think thats just plain dumb. Why reuse those songs again? If its a cover, I dont mind. But I dont think thats the case.. Same thing happened to SNSD's Run Devil Run. I know its a demo, but still..

Yeah it sounds silly, but it happens alot! Demos float around and are picked up by different people. I dunno if they were aware that it is being used already. They probably are and just took it anyway lol. I guess the composer gets twice the royalties from both versions hahaha so they don't mind I suppose.

That Rainie Love Me thing reminded me of a vid I watched involving Ava and plagiarism. I found it but it's about some Jpop singer taking the chorus from Passion xD But I do remember watching a vid about the Love Me thing in a similar vein.
